Haiku Asparagus

Poking through the soil
 Aged enough for certain death
 Patience sealed their fate

I was out digging up the garden last Sunday and didn’t spot a thing…but a few days later, as Spring became official, I saw the little guys emerging!
It’s year number three for the asparagus in our garden…which means we can now cut  and devour all of it for years to come!

  7. is there anything more satisfying then the return of relished fruits? asparagus makes one practice patience like no other…but oh the rewards are heavenly!
thank you for a delicious haiku and arrival of spring!

  8. I ADORE asparagus, especially if comes from the garden to the table in a matter of minutes. I once planted asparagus from seed. The five-year wait was worth every mouthwatering minute!

  9. I will have some this year too!
Your haiku is perfect… growing asparagus really
    is proof of faith…
that you will live long enough to eat it 😀

  10. Love that second line. I actually sort of snorted as I read it. You know the one – the one were you want to laugh and think OMG that is so wrong and then try to stifle it.
