Friends and Fashion

My oldest and very dear friend, Sallie, is an artist living in Cottonwood, Arizona.

She just started sharing studio space with a friend in the Old Jerome High School,
which has become quite an artists’ enclave over the past few years.

Her studio is bright and open, with high ceilings and wonderful old slate chalkboards.
(That’s the teacher in me reminiscing!)
She can finally spread out, display her work, and hang out with other wild and crazy artists.

On my recent visit,
Sallie took me out to dinner at a new palace called Bocci,
which was totally hip and incredibly scrumptious.
Then we walked over to see our friends playing music at a nearby wine bar
and enjoyed some most delicious wine.

On Sunday we drove to Sedona to hit Goodwill and a favorite store called Crystal Magic Clothing.

There, I found this darling Krista Lee black top with floral embroidery
and a little peplum-esque high-low hem.

I’m not exactly sure why, but it has a slight cowgirl feel to it,
so I paired it up with my Old Gringo boots and tried a few skirts on with it.

A Weston Wear balck ruched pencil skirt…
for that slimming line,

my Urban Outfitters skater skirt for a spunky look,

A distressed Levi’s Brand embellished mini, as a surprise element,

and finally, my Sahalie burgundy denim mini.

I keep forgetting to wear my shorter skirts
but this top reminded me of how cute/sexy/fun
they can be with simple leggings and booties.

Today’s moral:
Don’t forget (or be afraid) to show a little leg!

  5. Lovely for you to be able to spend some girl time with your bestie! Mine lives miles away in my home country and I miss her dearly.. but after 25 years, our friendship just take off where we left them last everytime we see each other! Strange especially thinking that we don’t talk on the phone or chat at all! Anyway, love the embroidery on the top!

Great score with the awesome top! I don’t think there’s anything it wouldn’t look good with. I love all these combos.

  7. How great for Sallie to have a lovely big studio to work in, and she gets to hang out with other creative souls too, that’s good.
Love your new top, it reminds me of those Nudie Cohn embroidered suits, so maybe that’s the country/cowgirl reference. Great with all the skirts, but yes, why not show a little leg, Dawn! xxx
