Sugar Skull Boots

I adore Mexico.

My favorite holiday is Dia de los Muertos
or Day of the Dead,
where sugar skulls are the predominant icon.

I’ve traveled to Oaxaca for Dia de Los Muertos several times
and gone to the cemetery with the Porras family into the wee hours of the morning.

I’ve celebrated Day of the Dead in San Miguel de Allende.

I’ve participated in Tucson, Arizona’s annual Dia de los Muertos procession through downtown.

I have a permanent altar in my house,

as well as a shelf of wee characters in my living room,

and TONS of  sweet little calaveras scattered throughout the house.

Occasionally, I even dabble with skulls in my own artwork.

So
you can understand that when I saw these Old Gringo boots,
I absolutely fell in love

and I just had to have them!!!

Now, I do love bright and bold colors,
but I’m not generally a neon kinda gal,
and I had a bit of a struggle with it initially.
But I’ve come to understand that,
if you’re gonna make a {sugar skull} statement,
why not go all-out?

I’ll be happy to style them in about 4+ weeks
when I can wear real footwear again!

You are witnessing the ultimate shame and humility
for a {footwear} fashionista
right before your eyes!!!

At least the Virgin will be watching over me for a spell…

Oh dear, what happened to your feet? Hope nothing bad and that you’ll recover quickly. Meanwhile I like the idea of decorating your temporary footwear :)
