Twist On Flannel

What’s plaid and colored and patchwork all over?

  • Patched Plaid Buttondown

This Free People Patched Plaid Buttondown of course!

Like it wasn’t cute enough already…
they added a sweet little crocheted panel on each side.

It’s incredibly soft and unbelievably thick…
which totally and irrevocably translates into toasty-warm magic!

So what does it work with?

Typically, I would pair it with literally any colored tunic, skinny jeans, and moto boots…
you know, my comfort zone.
But hey,
I do try to be open minded,
so here goes…

I tried forest green Hue jeggings with taller boots…eeek!
Too much exposed thigh.
I’ll save the jeggings/leggings for longer pieces….
maxi skirts.

How about trying it…GASP…without the proverbial tunic?
At least the jeans look more sleek.

I tried the messy tuck,
but Lordy,
there was just too much bulk!

Why not try it with this Hard Tail mermaid skirt?
Surprisingly feminine and sassy, I’d say!

totally bohemian,
goes with just about anything…
and  it was 25% off with my handy-dandy-food-drive-discount-certificate
from my beloved Hop Sing Trading Company!

Today, with our frigid winter temps, the wind howling outside, and snow on the way any second now,
I plan to wear it all day as my pseudo-jammies, and hang out in the kitchen…

if I can get my butt up off the couch!

Stay warm, everyone!

  1. Fashionable AND cozy – can’t beat that combination. This top would look great with anything. I like how you tried it with the mermaid skirt. I do think that your amazing fireplace would add a dash of coziness to even the skimpiest of bikinis. And I love your kitchen.

  2. That is one fine shirt. I have lots of my dad’s winter jammies stored away. What a good idea this would be to surprise my daughter with and use the jammies to make a shirt for her from her beloved grandpa’s sleepwear.

  3. Adorable! You are so dang fun! I think you need to try it with the little scrunchy black pencil skirt by Weston Wear! And black booties! And a statement necklace! Or over something lacy… Or, or, or…. Oh heck! It pretty much goes wit ever-thang! :)

  4. Beautiful piece! Beats the plain ole plaids!
